about Ex Libris Edmond Bomsel

Ex Libris plates are commonly found inside the books of people with extensive or noteworthy book collections.

This plate was designed by Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti for his friend Edmond Bomsel in 1961. From 1933 to 1938 Giacometti was an associate of Edmond Bomsel, general manager of the Le Sagittaire publishing house in Versailles, whom he had met through André Breton. Bomsel owned many works by Giacometti, notably a large number of Surrealist drawings.
