About the artist:
A native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Alice Gatewood Waddell has developed an artistic style that appeals to a variety of collectors. Primarily known for her mixed media designs, Waddell seeks to incorporate positive messages regarding family, unity, and spiritual celebration to both move and inspire the viewer. A formally trained artist, Waddell obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, with a concentration in painting, from Western Kentucky University. After graduating, Waddell began teaching art classes, giving private art lessons, providing workshops to adult groups, and working with seniors on therapeutic art techniques. In the early 1980's, Waddell began concentrating on unique techniques using an assortment of materials. In the early 1990, Waddell published her first limited edition prints, and demand for her unique pieces has steadily increased. Waddell's reputation among collectors as a fine artists has lead to many commissions by local, regional, and national corporations and organizations, as well as landed her images on the sets of numerous television shows and movie sets, including most recently the HBO original movie Disappearing Acts. Gatewood Waddell has produced commercial art working with several architectural firms, Western Kentucky University, University of Louisville, the Kentucky Department of Education, and Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.
