about Capricorn

Standing with its head partially lowered, the two-hooved mountain goat native to the mountain ranges of Western North America turns its head to watch the viewer with its horizontally-split brown eyes in this Allen Friedman print.

Capturing the beauty of the surrounding mountaintops in a bright shade of purple, the artist has also taken care to render the rocky ledge on which the animal stands with accuracy and aesthetic appeal.

About The Artist: Allen Friedman

Allen Friedman is a cum laude graduate of the New York Phoenix School of Design with additional studies at the Art Students League, School of Visual Arts and Pratt Institute. He worked for many years as a designer and illustrator with leading publishers and design studios. He is a former art director of a New York based publishing house and The Fish Net Magazine, a New York Sportsmans Illustrated. Mr. Friedman now owns his own studio and is...

About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
