about Guggenheim

This ink and acrylic work on paper is by African American artist Alvin Carl Hollingsworth.

It depicts the famed museum on NYC’s Upper East Side, just up the road from the Metropolitan Museum. Hollingsworth shows the towering construction, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, in simple black strokes against a tan background, the only color a singular red sun in the sky. The work is signed in the lower right and nicely framed.
