French (1931)
This pastel scene is reminiscent of many of the riverside compositions created by French Impressionism pioneer, Claude Monet.
Here, artist Bernard Taurelle uses color sparingly in only the darkest and most concentrated areas, giving the illusion of fog or gossamer cloaking the area. The large painting is signed in the lower right, titled and dated on the verso, and framed in a nice gold leaf frame. Provenance: Galerie Felix Vercel, New York.
