About The Artist: Claes Oldenburg

Claes Oldenburg (born January 28, 1929) was an American sculptor, best known for his public art installations typically featuring very large replicas of everyday objects. Another theme in his work was soft sculpture versions of everyday objects. Many of his works were made in collaboration with his wife, Coosje van Bruggen, who died in 2009 after 32 years of marriage. A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
