about City Canal

Viewed from the edge of the canal, this Claude Tabet print focuses on the liveliness and quaint atmosphere of Paris during the 19th century.

Featuring women with full skirts, hats, and parasols alongside mothers and fathers pushing baby carriages, the sidewalks are lined with the upper-class inhabitants of the city out on a stroll. Fishing or just relaxing, other Parisians watch the barge full of goods float by.

About The Artist: Claude Tabet

Claude Tabet (1924-1979), a native of Paris, worked mainly as a painter and illustrator. But between the end of World War II and 1959, he tried his hand at ceramics. Tabet had exhibitions in Galerie Roland Gerard and Galerie du Nombre d’Or. His paintings were also exhibited at Arnot Gallery....
