about Traders

Wrapped in woven blankets, three Native Americans stand beside a spear thrust into the snowy ground while a white trader displays his wares of jewelry and beads in this Dan Bodelson print.

Laid out on the animal skin, the trader displays several examples of his goods. Behind them, a collection of tipis with smoke flaps open are set up in a circle, indicating the location of the scene to be somewhere along the plains region near snowy mountains.

About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
