Daniel Gélis is a French Postwar & Contemporary painter who was born in 1942.
Daniel Gelis was born in the Loire area of France in 1942. Gelis had his first exhibition in 1969 in Paris. He has exhibited Internationally in Paris and the provinces, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Moscow, Washington, New York, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, China, Singapore, Tahiti, New Caledonia, Cote d’Ivoire, Gabon and in Senegal. Daniel Gelis has had more than 120 exhibitions Internationally. He has won numerous awards, and was also an illustrator of a book of poetry. He has been referenced in the Bénézit since 1999. One description of his work that I found, “abstraction, turning into a reality or reality receding into abstraction” seems right on target.
