David Bumbeck

About the artist:

Born in 1940, David Bumbeck received his B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design and a M.F.A. from Syracuse University. For the last 20 years, he has been a professor at Middlebury College in Vermont. Bumbeck employs techniques of intaglio printmaking such as etching, aquatint, engraving and photo-transfer. The human figure has been the dominant motif in his prints for over 25 years. EDUCATION: 1966 MFA Syracuse 1962 BFA Rhode Island School of Design TEACHING EXPERIENCE: 2002-Present Retired, Professor Emeritus 1973-2002 Professor of Art, Middlebury College 1968-1973 Assistant Professor of Art, Middlebury College 1966-1968 Instructor in Printmaking, Painting, and Drawing; Massachusetts College of Art David Bumbeck’s Resume lists fifty one-person exhibitions, over three hundred group exhibitions and prints in fifty museum collections. He has won numerous awards and is a member of the National Academy of Design.
