About the artist:

Donald Baechler was an American artist known for his deliberately naïve-looking paintings, prints, and sculptures, which featured basic forms, paired down to minimalist shapes. Baechler exhibited widely during his lifetime, participating in the Bienal de São Paulo and the Whitney Biennial and enjoying solo shows at Kunsthalle Basel and Austria’s Museum der Moderne Salzburg. Among the institutions holding his work in their collections are the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, both in New York; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; and the Centre Pompidou, Paris. Baechler passed in April of 2022 from a heart attack.
