Bracing against the cold, Duane Bryers's depiction of a cowboy on horseback in a field being covered in snow shows a different situation than many of his other works.
With its head hung low, the horse ridden by the cowboy appears cold and sullen, while the cowboy himself seems disappointed and frustrated by the weather as well. Although the cattle across the field are barely visible through the snow, they appear to vacantly wander through the fields in search of exposed grass to graze on.
