Throughout 50 years of an active professional life, Aquino has exhibited individually and collectively in numerous exhibitions around the world. 1939 Born June 30 in Zimatlan-Huyelachi, Oaxaca, Mexico. 1953-1954 Student of open workshops, National School of Plastic Arts (ENAP), National Autonoumus University of Mexico (UNAM). 1955-1962 Studies for and obtains professional title of Teacher of Plastic Arts in the ENAP, UNAM. 1963 Teacher at the ENAP-UNAM. Draftsman at the archeological excavations in Teotihuacan for the National Institute of Anthropology and History. 1964-1967 Instructor and Head of Plastic Arts Department, Benito Juarez Autonomous University of Oaxaca, Mexico. 1967-1969 Scholarship awarded by the French Government to study engraving and lithography at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-arts, Paris, France. 1969 Scholarship awarded by the British Council to study silkscreen at Slade School of Fine Arts, University College of London, England. 1970 Continues working at Slade School of Fine Arts, and his work is shown in three London galleries. 1971 Works in Mexico. Director of the galleries at Casa del Lago, UNAM. 1971-1981 Invited by Ines Amor, director of Galeria de Arte Mexicano, to exhibit in her gallery. 1972 Returns to Europe, works in Paris, Chartres, and Athens. 1973 Fixes residence in Coyoacan, a political district of Mexico City. 1973-1980 Works in Mexico. 1981 Works in the Experimental Ceramic Workshop of Alberto Diaz de Cossio, Mexico City and Ernest F. DeSoto Lithography Workshop in San Francisco, California. 1982-1985 Works in Mexico and the United States. 1986 Guest Artist, Artists–in-Berlin Programme, DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Berlin, Germany. After the stay in Berlin, travels in Germany, Austria, France and England. 1987-1993 Works in Mexico. 1994 Travels and exhibits in Switzerland, Germany and the United States and visits Italy. 1995-2001 Works in Mexico with periodic visits to the US. 2004 Travels to Norway, Holland, Paris and the United States. Works in Mexico. 2005 Writes and publishes the book Zimaltan-Lugar de la raiz del frijolon, based on research on the name of his hometown,with a short introdution by Miguel Leon-Portilla. Exhibits in Mexico and Norway. 2006 Edits and publishes the book My Watercolor World/Mi Mundo de la Acuarela-Leonard Brooks that shows the work of this Canadian painter and long-time resident of Mexico. Exhibits in Mexico, Norway and Germany. During his years as a student at the National School of Plastic Arts – San Carlos, Aquino is awarded several student prizes for drawing. 1960 Diploma- Honorable Mention Painting, “The Mexican Revolution” National Contest, Mexico City 1960 Second Prize Painting, First Student Painting Salon, University Museum of Science and Art, UNAM, Mexico City 1961 First Prize Painting, Second Student Painting Salon, University Museum of Science and Art, UNAM, Mexico City 1961 First Prize Drawing, University Pentathlon Anniversary Exhibition, Mexico City 1969 First Prize Painting – Drawing Exihibition of Foreign Artists with French Government Scholarships, Paris, France. Awarded Medal by the Hotel de la Monnaie. 1974 National Prize of the Sixth International Festival of Painting, Cagnes-sur-Mer, France. 1978 Third Prize, First Iberoamerican Biennial, Carrillo Gil Museum, Mexico City.
