Georges Lepape, born in Paris on 26 May 1887 and died in Bonneval (Eure-et-Loir) on 15 February 1971, is a fashion designer, poster, French writer and illustrator, particularly representative of the 1930s. In 1910 he exhibited at the Salon d'Automne, where he met the couturier Paul Poiret with whom he befriends. It shows him in 1911 for Les Choses de Paul Poiret, considered his masterpiece. He participated in the early numbers, the Gazette du Bon Ton, to which it contributes splendid colored plates in stencil. He then worked for major fashion magazines of the time, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Femina, Vogue and The Art Sheets. Precursor of clear line, it is influenced by the Orientalism, the Persian miniatures and the Ballets Russes. In 1917, he makes puppets following models of Paul Poiret. In 1920, he participated in the exhibition Fashion view twentieth century painters in the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. In 1926, he was invited to New York by Conde Nast, publisher of Vogue U.S.. He stayed six months. Covers it performs in this review are of high quality. Like many artists of this innovative time, it operates with boldness and elegance in the most varied fields: posters, theater programs, textiles, fans, advertising catalogs including Wallace & Draeger. In 1923, he produced designs including The Blue Bird, symbolic magic of Maurice Maeterlinck, and theater costumes. After the war, he worked for many advertising and publishing. It illustrates thirty books: Paul Géraldy, Sacha Guitry, Alfred de Musset, Plato. He was a frequent host of Sainte-Maxime in the Var, in his villa "Sea Urchins" built on the rocks.
