about Dial Set One

This screenprint was created by Welsh artist Gordon House (1932-2004).

House was a designer and painter whose hard-edged abstract works reflected the dramatic tensions of his graphic design, like in this piece here. This print is signed and numbered from an edition of 70, and it measures 27 x 27 inches. It is in excellent condition.

About The Artist: Gordon House

Many of the works made during his last years by the painter and graphic designer Gordon House, who has died aged 71, referred back to his birthplace in the Swansea valley. He spent his earliest years in the steel town of Pontardawe. In Tin-pan Valley, the memoir he published earlier this year, he recalled "the clamour of steel mills ... the tinplate works and pithead gear" and "dynamite blasting as coal seams were struck higher up the valley"....

About The Medium: Screenprint

A stencil process employing a frame on which silk or synthetic fabric is stretched. Stencils are hand-drawn or hand-cut and placed on the stretched fabric and act as a block out when the ink passes through the screen by means of a squeegee onto the paper, the non-stencil areas create the image. Also known as silkscreen or serigraph.
