He studied art at the University of North Carolina from 1944 to 1946 under a wartime navy training program, and graduated from the University of Missouri in 1947. 1949-55Lived and worked in Paris 1956- Returned to United States; lived New York City 1956-1995. 1995 - Resides in Bridgehampton, New York.
