Jacques Nathan-Garamond, not March 26, 1910 in Paris, died February 25, 2001 is a French graphic designer. He studied at the Ecole Nationale of Decorative Arts and the School was Director of Architecture d'Aujourd'hui before he started his career as a designer. He was born Jacques Nathan and changed its name during the Second World War in Garamond, whose real name is Nathan as a middle name. After the war, he became a graphic designer and has worked with all kinds of artistic work in progress, such as the design of posters for the UNESCO exhibition on human rights in 1949. He designed marks, packaging, book design, illustrations, posters and corporate identities. He did commercial work for companies like Mazda, Air France and Telefunken. In 1952, Nathan Garamond was a founding member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI). His wife Cathy was an active supporter of AGI and was then appointed erevicevoorzitter for life. In 1957 he received a gold medal at the Milan Triennale. In 1964, he participated in the Documenta in Kassel III. He was a professor at the International School and Professor at the School of Graphic Arts in Paris Penninghen.
