About the artist:
Born in Detroit in 1930 to Grace Avery and Glen P. Cowan. She grew up in Cleveland. After dancing professionally, she matriculated to Sarah Lawrence College, where she began a lifelong devotion to fine arts. Between 1965 and 2000, her art work was displayed at more than 70 exhibitions in the United States. She was a founding member and past president of Noho Gallery in NYC.
