John Morgan

About the artist:

John Morgan was a very successful genre artist. Born in Pentonville, London, he studied at the School of Design, London and in Paris.

He exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists of which he was a member.

Morgan often depicted children at play as in this oil on canvas. One of his most famous paintings entitled Gentlemen of the Jury (The Jury) earned him the nickname “Jury Morgan”.
