About The Artist: John Stritch

John Stritch started his professional career as a flight surgeon in the United States Armed Forces, where he was for a time stationed in England. Trained in medicine at Boston University, Dr. Stritch worked after his military discharge as a contract surgeon for the Esso company in Aruba, servicing employees, their families and the local population. About The Medium: Screenprint

A stencil process employing a frame on which silk or synthetic fabric is stretched. Stencils are hand-drawn or hand-cut and placed on the stretched fabric and act as a block out when the ink passes through the screen by means of a squeegee onto the paper, the non-stencil areas create the image. Also known as silkscreen or serigraph.
