A green and gray composition that features a more dimensional rendition of Albers’ famous "Homage to the Square" series.

The exterior ring of dark green flanks a window of gray before opening up to a brighter, more neon green at the center. From the portfolio “Formulation: Articulation” created by Josef Albers in 1972. This monumental series consists of 127 original silkscreens that are a definitive survey of the artist’s most important color and shape theories. A copy of the colophon bearing Albers’ hand-signature and the edition number is included with the artwork.

Josef Albers (March 19, 1888 – March 25, 1976) was a German-born American artist and educator whose work, both in Europe and in the United States, formed the basis of some of the most influential and far-reaching art education programs of the twentieth century. Albers was born into a Roman Catholic family of craftsmen in Bottrop, Westphalia, Germany. He worked from 1908 to 1913 as a schoolteacher in his hometown. Albers trained as an art...
