Seated below one another, Kevin Red Star's depiction of a husband and wife of the Crow nation is detailed and authentic.

With his hands in his pockets, the husband sits behind the wife and wears a white multi-chain necklace and white vest with orange flowers and vines over a yellow long-sleeved shirt and white trousers. Sitting before him, his wife wears a blue dress with white circular ornaments sewn across it, in addition to a beaded belt and green shawl tied around her shoulders. Both individuals wear their hair in two braids and wear large, white circular earrings.

Kevin Red Star was born on the Crow Indian Reservation in Lodge Grass, Montana. He was raised in a family that values art and culture, where he developed an early love of drawing and music. This exposure and encouragement sustained him during his years in grade school during the time when Crow students were denied association with their language and cultural heritage.
