American (1947)

About the artist:

Photographer Kim Gottlieb-Walker, who views herself as a set historian, is best known for her candid celebrity pictures and film stills. “My goal was always to communicate the atmosphere and tone of each film,” she has said. She has taken many on-set and behind-the-scenes photographs for Paramount Pictures productions, most notably for John Carpenter horror movies such as Halloween (1978). Gottlieb-Walker has also worked as a photojournalist in Los Angeles, accompanying writers on interviews and capturing the subtle, candid gestures and reactions of notable personalities such as Andy Warhol, Jimi Hendrix, and Howard Fast. More recently, Gottlieb-Walker has published books with previously unseen images of famous subjects; Bob Marley and the Golden Age of Reggae (2010) features shots of Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, and Peter Tosh.
