About the artist:

Lloyd Bennett is a painter from western Canada who studied painting at the University of Minnesota and art history at the University of Chicago and University of Manchester. He is currently focusing on abstracted landscapes. My work goes through a series of steps that reduces the landscape image to a distillation that looks for a balance between subject and formal design. This process involves painting on small panels at the site and working up these “sketches” into larger oils. The specific landscape is further abstracted by a process of blowing up a section of the oil painting to produce a work that seeks a balance between subject and method, color and brushwork.
