about Restaurant au Vieux Paris

Mary Faulconer's unique aesthetic is evident in this print of a restaurant known as Restaurant au Vieux located on a street in Paris.

With the entire first floor rendered in a bold red, the coffered molding along the exterior of the business are barely visible. The intense color of the first floor contrasts heavily with the second and third floors, as wll as the surrounding buildings, which are all painted white or off-white.

About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
