Mikio Watanabe
Born in 1954 in Yokohama, Japan. After completing his studies in Tokyo, leaves Japan from Yokohama harbour in 1977, crosses Siberia and goes to Paris where he settles down to work. From 1979 to 1981, he learns engraving techniques with S. W. Hayter at the Atelier 17, Paris. Since 1981, he has dedicated his work to mezzotint. Settles down in Pierric, Brittany. In 2001, sets up a studio in Paris....

About The Medium:
Mezzotint
A printmaking process of the intaglio family, technically a drypoint method. It was the first tonal method to be used, enabling half-tones to be produced without using line- or dot-based techniques like hatching, cross-hatching or stipple.
