About the artist:

A blend of styles, influenced by Asian landscapes (I grew up in Hawaii) and Western abstraction, characterize my work. Science and the whimsical often fuel my conceptual directions. Media are primarily ink and acrylic washes. Frequently paintings created with those traditional media types are modified by first scanning them to computer, working on the images in the digital domain, printing them as a member of a limited edition, then finishing the work by embellishing each by hand, again with traditional media. I use unprimed canvas or archival paper as a base. Washes and inks are applied to a horizontal, flat canvas and are layered repeatedly – 30 or 40 layers of acrylic washes are not unusual to build a section of an image. Most work is available as either the original painting, or limited-edition print in a range of sizes. Using large-format professional ink-jet printers, images are printed on acid-free cotton paper using exceptionally durable pigmented archival inks. Colors are accurate and long lasting. Limited edition prints offer a cost-effective way to own fine art. Because I hand-finish and embellish each print, every member of the edition is unique.
