About the artist:

Born to French-Canadian parents in Worcester, Massachusetts, Norman Laliberté spent his youth in Montreal. Returning to the United States, he earned a Master's degree in Art Education from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. After a few years of teaching, his artistic career took off in 1964 on the occasion of the New York World's Fair, where he designed eighty-eight banners for the Vatican pavilion. Moreover, Norman Laliberté will make many public orders, including eighteen panels for Logan International Airport in Boston. A prolific and versatile artist, Laliberté was a painter, sculptor and draftsman. He is also the author and illustrator of several books. His works have been admired through more than one hundred solo exhibitions in Canada and the United States. They are also found in prestigious collections such as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC and the Nelson A. Rockefeller Collection in New York. Norman Laliberté is the recipient of several awards and honors, including an honorary doctorate from St. Mary's College (Notre Dame University, Indiana) and McGill University in Montreal. Still very active, he is now living in his house-studio in Nahant, Massachusetts. His abundant talents have been the subject of over 100 solo shows across America and Canada. His works include the Smithsonian Institution, the Nelson A. Rockefeller Collection and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. He is the author of over twenty books on contemporary art and has received Honorary Doctorate degrees from both Notre Dame and McGill University. A painter, printmaker and sculptor, Laliberté is more experienced than ever, infusing artworks with his celebrated joy-of-life and creating pieces that are utterly childlike and yet sophisticated.
