About the artist:
Artist Statement In my artistic studies, I draw inspiration from a number of periods including Cubism and Futurism. I greatly admire the expression of the French brothers, Marcel and Raymond Duchamp, 1882-1968; the compositions of Henry Moore from Britain, 1898-1986; and the movement in the works of Umberto Boccioni from Italy, 1882-1916. For many years now, I have been closely associated with Weitzman Studios, Inc., an art studio out of Maryland that creates large-scale public art. This relationship gives me the opportunity to enlarge my body of work and allows me to devote more time to it. In the next few years, I hope to reach beyond my immediate community by creating and exhibiting art in other communities and cities. My academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and a minor in Art Studio from the University of Maryland. I also have an 18-year career as a "team" counselor, working primarily with disadvantaged youths. Over the last 20 years, my artwork has been displayed in over 90 festivals, schools, galleries, libraries, public recreational centers, and public parks.
