About the artist:
Born in 1917 in Copenhagen, Ole Hamann created art that ranges from cubist "skyscraper" paintings to expressionistic paintings of broken musical instruments and romantic landscape scenery. Hamann has designed more than fifty postage stamps for the UN and for several countries. He studies at the new Carlsberg Glyptotek, the School of Arts and Crafts and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Hamann was a member of the UN Secretariat beginning in 1946. From 1953 to 1960 he was Chief of the Graphic Design Section and then became Chief of UN Postal Administration.
