About the artist:

Otto Herbert Hajek (born 27 June 1927 in Kaltenbach, Czechoslovakia, † 29 April 2005 in Stuttgart) was a German abstract painter, graphic artist and sculptor. Life Hajek attended high school in Prachatitz and later went to school in Erlangen. From 1947 to 1954 he studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. In 1978 he was awarded the title of Professor by the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Head of a sculptor at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe Hajek 1980 was appointed. He taught there until 1992. Hajek's work has been made at the documenta II (1959) and Documenta III (1964) in Kassel and thus gained a higher level of awareness. From 1972 to 1979 he was Chairman of the German Association of Artists. In this capacity, he sat down one especially for the social protection of artists. Until his death he lived in Stuttgart. His grave is located in the forest cemetery in Degerloch. Exhibitions His art works are exhibited worldwide, for example in Moscow, Adelaide or in the museums of the Vatican. The works are predominantly colored sculptures and objects made of steel and concrete, as well as interior and façade designs in buildings.
