about Flag with Heart

A simply framed example of Peter Max’s American flag paintings, one of his most used motifs other than the Statue of Liberty.

The simplified flag bears only 4 stars plus a small heart in the upper left. The rest of the flag consists of 5 red stripes and 4 white. Behind it is a rainbow gradient background with childlike squiggles. Max has signed the piece in the lower right below the flag.
