The visual splendor of the Caribbean Islands has been a continuing source of inspiration for Rita Genet, who lived in Jamaica, West Indies, for 20 years. She is widely recognized as a tropical landscape artist whose paintings have aroused interest wherever exhibited. Over the past 35 years, the paintings of Rita Genet have sold throughout the United States, England, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, Japan, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Ms. Genet has had 9 one-woman shows. Rita Genet's paintings have a unique aesthetic appeal which demonstrates her ability to combine the detail and color sense of a designer, with the composition and force of a painter. Her naive style inherently captures the vibrancy and natural character of the tropical islands. Ms. Genet now lives in Asheville, North Carolina. Her work has been exhibited in more than 50 shows, at many galleries in New York, the Caribbean, and Europe. A native of Milford, Connecticut, Ms. Genet studied art at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, and the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Society. The vibrant color and intuitive style captured on the canvases of Rita Genet have drawn the attention of both private and corporate collectors throughout the world.
