Sami Briss was born in 1930, in Briss, Romania. He spent his childhood in a Jewish community, which is why he still strongly identifies with Jewish culture. Briss moved to Israel thirty years later. In 1974 he moved to Paris, where he has been living ever since. As a painter, he frequently incorporates the concept of nostalgia into his work.
