Shunji Sakuyama was born on July 29, 1940 in Harbin, China. Son of Motoharu and Kiyoko (Wani) Sakuyama. came to the United States, 1966. He received his bachelor's degree from Tokyo Gakugei College and his Masters of Fine Arts at Brooklyn College. He studied at Brooklyn Museum Art School and Pratt Graphics Center for his postgraduate work.
