Stanley Sobossek was born in New York in 1918 and began working with oils during the middle of the 20th century. Stanley Sobossek was a New York native, active in the mid 20th century. Exhibited and won the first prize at NYC “Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit” in Sep 1955. In September 1955, he won first prize in New York City’s “Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit” for his oil painting titled “Mechanic Street, New Hope, PA”, an exhibition dating to 1931. The show began it’s history in 1931 and such Greenwich Village artists as Jackson Pollack, Willem DeKooning and Alice Neel took to the sidewalks to show their canvases and pay the rent.
