About the artist:
Born in 1962 in the heavenly city of St. Petersburg, Russia, to a couple of professors of the St. Petersburg State Forest Technical Academy; one of the oldest colleges in Russia. Their cottage stood in the middle of the famous botanical garden at the academy and all of Tanya's childhood was spent surrounded by majestic flowers. Her mother was very attentive and often took her on tours in the posh gardens showing her the different species as they would grow and bloom. They would often visit the sights of St. Petersburg with its distinguished palaces, cathedrals and exquisite art. From an early age, Tanya began painting flowers and trees and she has never stopped. Once while attending pre-kindergarten, she remained in the classroom alone for one-hour painting her favorite flowers on all of the walls. Instead of being reprimanded, she was sent to a studio for gifted children to cultivate her artistic talent. At 7 she began studies at the Youth Creative Center . Upon graduation from the Center, Tanya decided to peruse other interests, but ultimately could not stay away from her passion for painting. She passed a vigorous entrance exam and was accepted into the prestigious Repin Academy of Fine Art, where she graduated in 1996 after 5 years of intense creative studying. In 1998 she was inducted into the elite Artists' Union of Russian and has since participated in over 14 art shows conducted by the Union . Her unique style in capturing the innocents and joy of children at play, allows the viewer to reflect on their own childhood or that of their children. Her works are appreciated and collected by many in Europe , Russia and the United States of America .
