Greek/American (1922–1997)
Completed when the artist was only 25, this painting references a fight between two mythological figures.
Commonly called Furies, the Erinyes or Eumenides were Greek goddesses of vengeance, associated with the Underworld and thought of by some to be the ghosts of the murdered. This oil painting shows two abstract figures in purple and black clashing against a red and gray background. The piece is signed and dated by the artist verso.
